Last week marked an exciting first for Asbury Community Development Corporation—we officially took our food trailer on the road to cater an event for Michigan State University (MSU) students at the MSU Extension campus! This was more than just a catering gig; it was a meaningful milestone in how we share our mission through food.
For the first time ever, our food trailer rolled off campus and into new territory, filled with fresh ingredients, passionate staff, and the spirit of community empowerment. The event gave us the opportunity to showcase not just our culinary skills, but also the values we live by: access, education, and connection through food.
Our team prepared a delicious, farm-to-table meal sourced straight from Asbury Farms and local partners.
Beyond the food, this event was about building bridges. It gave MSU a taste of what it looks like to serve a mission through meals. Several students asked thoughtful questions about our Sizzling Culture! youth program, our work in Flint neighborhoods, and how we’re using food as a tool for wellness and equity.
This event wasn’t just about feeding people—it was about planting seeds for future partnerships and possibilities.
We’re grateful to MSU Extension for welcoming us, and to our dedicated team who prepped, packed, and powered through to make this first off-campus food trailer event a success. Here’s to many more miles and meals ahead!
